State Director Code of Conduct

Purpose

This Code of Conduct outlines the ethical and professional standards required of all State Directors within the Association. As the primary link between the National Hub and local Chapters, State Directors are expected to uphold the integrity of the organization, ensure the fairness of sanctioned play, and promote the educational mission of the Maker-Gamer movement.

Article I: Ethical Leadership and Professionalism

  1. Integrity: Directors shall act with honesty and transparency in all administrative duties, representing the Association’s mission without personal bias.

  2. Inclusivity: Directors must foster an environment free from harassment and discrimination, ensuring that gaming events are accessible and welcoming to all participants regardless of background or experience level.

  3. Conflict of Interest: Directors must disclose any financial or personal interests in local chapters, publishers, or manufacturers that could influence their decision-making regarding sanctioned events or resource allocation.

Article II: Fiduciary and Administrative Responsibility

  1. Stewardship: Directors are responsible for the oversight of State Council resources and must ensure that all chapter affiliation fees and sponsorship funds are handled according to established non-profit accounting standards.

  2. Confidentiality: Protection of member data, including personal information and proprietary design assets within the Digital Library, is paramount. Unauthorized distribution of Association IP is strictly prohibited.

  3. Compliance: Directors must ensure all events within their jurisdiction comply with local, state, and federal laws, as well as the Association’s 501(c)(3) educational mandate.

Article III: Gaming Integrity and The National Circuit

  1. Ranking Fairness: Directors shall oversee the integrity of the National Player Ranking (NPR) system within their state, investigating any reports of "rating camping," result manipulation, or Glicko-2 system abuse.

  2. The "Loot" Economy: Directors must ensure that digital and physical rewards (XP, loot, and carry-over assets) are distributed fairly and only through sanctioned software and events.

  3. Standardization: Directors are responsible for ensuring local chapters adhere to the official blueprints for megagames and competitive events to maintain a consistent experience for all members.

Article IV: The "Safe Play" Initiative

  1. Safety Training: State Directors must complete and maintain "Safe Play" certification and ensure all local Chapter Leads and judges under their supervision do the same.

  2. Incident Reporting: Directors are required to maintain a standardized reporting pipeline for safety violations or code of conduct breaches, ensuring swift and fair resolution at the regional level.

Article V: Educational & Maker Standards

  1. Vocational Focus: In alignment with the organization's educational mission, Directors shall prioritize the promotion of the Maker-Gamer Certification modules and vocational workshops.

  2. Quality Control: Directors will assist in the curation of playtest feedback, ensuring that data provided to designers is objective, constructive, and aimed at improving the grade of products within the industry.

Acknowledgment and Compliance

Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the State Council and revocation of Director certification. By accepting this role, the State Director commits to the professionalization and growth of the national tabletop ecosystem.
